Summer Fun!

This past weekend we were out at the island and the boys had to go in "The Farm" as Alex calls it. It is a shed that holds the supplies and tractors.
They love the tractor!
This front end loader is very popular with the boys. They have to take turns, because they both always want it. When Alex plays with it he usually sits on the back and lifts up the scooper.
Evan fills up the dump truck. We could do this for hours!
Last night Evan's daycare had a summer picnic. They had face painting and Alex got a baseball painted on his arm. It was done with paint and came off in the bathtub, so he was really sad.
Evan got a rainbow on his cheek. He was able to keep it on until the next morning, because his was done with a crayon rather than paint. They also made tie dyed shirts. Evan is going to wear his tomorrow, so maybe I'll try to get a picture! The shirts turned out really cute. I didn't realize making them was so easy!
At our new house we set up a pool for the kids. We put it up on the patio so it wouldn't kill the grass, but they don't really like it because the ground is too hard under it. We may just have to put it away until next year and put it in the grass.
We also have a hot tub. The boys are waiting for Daddy to come and take off the cover.
They spent more time watching Daddy in the hot tub than in their own pool.

Last week on my way home from work I looked down and my odometer said 100,000 miles! YIKES!

Cardboard...The Ultimate in Child Entertainment

So, we're enjoying the new house. However, the old house had a built-in desk that couldn't come over. So, we needed to find a desk for the new house. Denise found one and it was shipped in three large boxes. The recycle truck came today. So, I knew I needed to unpack the last box and cut it up for the recycle truck to pick up. So, first, I threw the box off the edge of the deck. It was the easiest way to get it to the ground to be hauled to the front yard. It was easier than taking it through the house. Then, I let the boys throw the styrofoam and cardboard packing material off the deck. It was better than the night before when Alex threw two toys off the deck. Needless to say, they had fun and it was actually productive. Then, I hauled the box to the driveway. Before I cut it up, the boys had to have their fun with it. Check it out.

Saturday we were out at the island and after nap Evan wanted to go swimming. Alex said he didn't want to put on his swimsuit. I put sandals on him, so he could go in the water if he wanted. He wanted to put a noodle in the water so I told him to go ahead and stand at the edge of the beach, so he could put the noodle in the water. Before I knew it his legs were in the water then his shorts and then he was sitting down and standing up and sitting down splashing. He couldn't stand up after awhile, because his diaper was so huge!

Someone got these boats that are kind of like kayaks for their kids and they let Evan and Donald play with them. The boys had fun pushing each other around.

They really kept busy playing with this boat for a long time!

Evan at Grandma & Grandpa camp!

While we were moving Evan went to stay with my parents for a couple of days. Like any little boy Evan loves police cars and always points them out when he sees one on the road.
He even stood next to the nice police officer:-)
If any of you know my Mom you know she has a bunny room. Evan slept on the pull out sofa in "The Bunny Room". He remembered she has this Beatrix Potter bunny that reads a story when you push the button, so he went looking for that right away.

This tow truck pedal car was my brother's when he was a kid. They got it down from the attic and got it cleaned up for Evan. Notice his little dump truck is being towed behind it:-)

With all the rain we have had my parents sump pump has been working overtime. They have it draining outside and it flows down the street gutter. What is a boy to do with water in the street, but find a way to play in it!
He could be entertained for hours with that water and broom!
I think the police pedal car needs gas!
They had to make a run to Walmart to get some "Marshmallow Ladies" (maties). If you aren't familiar they are the Malt O Meal brand cereal like Lucky Charms. Evan really likes them. I'm not sure where the ladies came from, but it is pretty funny. He also had fun with Rex and lining up grandma's soaps in the laundry room. He got to meet and the neighbors and he says they know EVERYONE. Mickey even gave him a bag of M&M's(his favorite)! I bet he will ask about that next time we are out to visit. Be ready Mickey(maybe he won't be so shy):-) He has an incredible memory for stuff like that. Two years ago we were at Robert and Kwo Ue's house and he went to the bathroom there and there was a kitty in the bathtub behind the shower curtain. If we have been to anyone's house to use the bathroom with Evan and there is a shower curtain he will ask if there is a kitty behind the curtain and he has to look.

Alex stayed with Eric's parents and they live closer, so they took him to daycare every morning.

Hello? Is anybody home?

I apologize for my lack of posts, but we have been really busy. A week ago we closed and moved into a new house. We've been very busy packing and unpacking and getting the house in order. We still have a lot to do! The only pictures on my camera are of the empty rooms at the old house(for Evan). Evan spent a couple days with my parents during the move and she sent me some pictures of his activities, so I'll post a few of those.

Long story how we ended up moving....Eric found a house he liked in Mid-June online just a few blocks away from where we live. We didn't like it, but the one next door was also for sale. The houses share a dock on the lake. The owner of the house next door was home and he invited us in. He explained that he is a builder and bought the house a couple years before and gutted it and made it really beautiful. He said he was going to be doing some more work in the area and he said since we lived nearby he would come look at our house and he might want to buy it(he needed a place to live while he did the other projects). The following week he came and looked at our house and we reached an agreement. On July 28th we closed. He bought our house and we bought his. We didn't have to put it on the market! He has lots of plans for our "old" house and I can't wait to see what he does with it.

Both boys love the new house! I was reading to Alex before bed tonight and he said "I love my new rooms mommy". Evan also loves the new house and his new room. The yard is a lot bigger than our old yard and Alex even found some toys (a backhoe and truck) stuck in the bushes in the backyard left by the previous little boy who lived here. They are adjusting well to their new rooms!

There are not enough hours in the day!
