The weather is finally warm enough to open the patio door. Evan had fun opening and closing the door.

Sunday afternoon the weather was so nice we got outside and took a walk as a family. Didn't get a picture of it this time, but next time we will. After our walk we decided to go to dinner at Tonka Grill(our first meal out of the house as a family).

There is one cupboard in our kitchen that we didn't baby-proof. Evan found this cupboard and has fun pulling out all the boxes, so he can climb inside.

Eric captures a nice self portrait of he and Evan
We finally get a glimpse of baby Alex's eyes. They look blue for now, but we'll see if they stay that color.

Catching up on some posts!

Sunday we visited Eric's Grandma who is in the hospital. She got to meet Alex her 4th great-grandchild.
Great-Aunt Michelle was also there to meet Alex!

Our friend Karen made us this darling cake out of diapers. Alex came out of the hospital in Size 1 diapers(newborn are too small already). We had to break into the diaper cake and today we started on the bottom tier. Go Alex!

Chris and Jennie stopped by on Sunday to meet Alex and took some pictures of us. It was nice to see them and catch up.

Who does he look like?

Sometimes when we look at Alex we can see Evan and other times we aren't sure. He does the old man faces which are cute and make you laugh. His eyes are open for maybe an hour a day, so we haven't taken too many pictures of him yet.
So BIG!

Heading Home

We checked out of the hospital on Thursday. It feels good to be home. We are getting very little sleep at night as Alex wants to be held all the time to sleep. Earlier today we had success putting him in the swing and vibrating seat and he was content, but this evening he would not be content unless he was being held. Eric and I have taken turns sleeping while the other will hold him. We were so hoping we could both sleep at the same time tonight, so we'll have to see what happens. Bob and Gay took Evan for the night, so we don't need to worry that his crying will wake Evan.
Here are some pictures from Thursday as we left the hospital.

Welcome Alex Dewey Schmidt

At 10:09 AM this morning we welcomed our second child, Alex Dewey Schmidt. He weighs 9 lbs 5 oz and is 22" long. Everybody is doing well. Evan will be coming to visit tomorrow before going to swimming lessons. He's definitely in for a big surprise!

Alex's middle name may not be very common. However, it has significant importance as Eric's maternal grandfather's name is Dewey, Denise's father's name is Dewey, and Denise's paternal grandfather's name is Dewey.

Please call Eric on his mobile phone if you'd like to visit.

Sledding Fun?

We have an awesome sledding hill just down the road from our house. All winter we've been saying that we should take Evan over to the hill to go sledding. Friday I borrowed a sled from day-care and today we decided to venture out in the snow with Evan.

Eric carried Evan up the hill and they went down the hill. Evan didn't really like sledding very much!

They did one more attempt, but he still really didn't like it.
So Evan watches Daddy go up by himself

Here comes Daddy! Maybe next year Evan will be more excited about sledding:-)
We let him try out the slide and that was a little more his style!
