A few days up north

Last week we went up to my parents cabin for a few days. We had a great time! The weather was nice, but the horseflies and mosquitoes were terrible. Thanks Mom and Dad for being great hosts!

The little lawn chair Evan is sitting in is my lawn chair when I was a little kid. He's also holding a little fishing pole which he was more interested in eating then using it to fish.

Mom and Dad just put up a new flag! Looks nice blowing in the wind:-)

Evan was even able to go swinging!!

Daddy even took him down a slide.
We climbed the ranger tower. This is a picture of the tower from a distance. I haven't climbed the ranger tower in years. I forgot that the climb up to the tower is almost worse than climbing the tower itself. My legs were hurting for a couple days after the climb. Evan had no concept of the height of the tower. He just goes with the flow.

Evan and Eric at the top! HURRAH!

This is the beautiful view from the top of the tower. Thank goodness it was not too windy. It was perfect weather!!

Dad took us out for a boat ride on the old Sea Ray. Evan enjoyed the boat ride.

We went for a walk everyday and had to cover the stroller with a net, so the horseflies and mosquitoes would not eat Evan alive. I'm not sure if he understood why his view was so fuzzy:-)
Evan notices the smiley face on Grandpa Dewey's shirt.
Doesn't Evan look like a big boy in this picture? I think he is starting to look like a little boy. bye bye baby.
Evan gets to try out his traveling booster seat. It comes with two trays. Evan figured out right away how to take the top try off and you can see it sitting on the desk behind him. Fisher Price needed to attach the top tray better.

Holy Cow! Eric Turns 30!

Okay, it's official. I'm now old. On Sunday, I turned 30. I got to do two of my favorite things on my birthday. First, I got to take the boat with Denise and Evan to Maynard's for lunch. We had a great time. A great shout out goes to the best dock boy that ever lived, Ryan O'Brien. He is what makes a visit to Maynard's exactly what it should be. After lunch, he hopped on the boat and took Evan from Denise so that she could board the boat. You add Ryan's attention to detail to Maynard's food and you have yourself one awesome 30th birthday party.

Then, we went to White Castle and had dinner. Yes, I kind of have a thing for White Castle Sliders. Ahhh.....a perfect birthday.

Happy 4th of July!!

We headed out to the Island last night to stake out our spot. Our friend Jennine called me in the afternoon to warn us that the docks were starting to fill up. They were trying to save the rest of the dock for us, so we could be behind them. We made it out and got the perfect spot to stay for a couple nights. Evan took a couple of rides on the swing and still loves it very much.

Boats, boats and more boats. Things are crowded and people are trying to make room for everyone. Thank goodness we didn't have to arrive today. If anyone left, their spot was quickly snatched up.

Evan plays down in the cabin as I heat up some potatoes while Eric grilled some steaks on the grill.
Evan makes a mess of his yogurt while Eric was feeding him. He likes to try and grab the spoon and he manages to really make a mess. He looks like he is really having fun!
Evan started a new trick last night. He takes one of these balls and puts it on the seat back right behind him and it slides off onto the floor like a roller coaster hill. Then of course we have to pick up the ball and give it back to him, so he can do it all over again.

We watched the fireworks from Dave and Jennine's boat. They have a large boat with a nice cockpit that is high up with a great view. Eric took a self portrait of us.

Here are some shots of the finale.
You can see lots of boats are watching the fireworks.
This is Evan watching the fireworks in his dreams! Thankfully he didn't wake up with all the noise. He is a great sleeper on the boat. Thank goodness for the air conditioning which creates a nice white noise to block out the noise and also keeps him cool. SWEET DREAMS!

Trip to the zoo and more swimming for Evan

Last Friday we took the day off and took Evan to the Minnesota Zoo. Here are some pictures we took. Evan enjoyed the animals he could see moving. Some of the animals that are slow moving he doesn't really notice.

Watching for dolphins!

The cold water from the fountain felt nice on a hot day.

Watching all the fish in Discovery Bay. Fish are always moving, so Evan liked to watch them go.

Bottle time is happy break time!
Evan is really enjoying his swimming lessons. He doesn't mind getting water splashed in his face.

Ring around the rosy pocket full of posies...splashes splashes we all fall in. You may notice that Evan and Gavin have on the same swim trunks! The instructor told us that he had to have a swim diaper that wasn't a disposable and this suit has it built in.

Evan started sucking on Eric leg and Eric thru his head back laughing and hit is head on the boat. OUCH!

Then all Evan could do was smile:-)
Last Sunday Grandpa Bob took Evan and Eric to Lifetime Fitness to go in the pool. The inside pool was for 18 and over, so they had to go in the outside pool. Evan liked to splash Grandpa!

Evan's afternoon away from home!

Yesterday Eric had plans to take his Dad out on the boat and I got invited to a party, so I called up our friend Karen to ask her if she would want to watch Evan for the afternoon. She has offered several times to watch Evan if we ever needed her. Evan had a GREAT time. He was asleep before we barely got out of the neighborhood on the way home! Bryan and Karen are expecting their first child in July. This first picture shows Evan trying out the new baby-to-be's crib! The crib will be perfect for the new baby:-) Karen got a great shot of his first two teeth. CHECK THEM OUT(you may have to click on the picture to enlarge it, so you can see those new chompers)!!! The fashionable bib is used to prevent his shirt from getting soaked with drool that flows out of his mouth:-) Thanks again Karen for watching Evan and the great pics!

Luau Anyone?

Last night we went to a luau out at the island. We again forgot the cameras...so this is a picture of Evan and Eric in their cute Hawaiian shirts taken with my cellphone! We had pulled pork sandwiches and coleslaw for dinner. They had games for the kids with prizes. In a couple years Evan will really have a great time. He did enjoy watching the kids do the limbo and swat at a pinata! He did get a chance to go for a ride on the swing. He did sleep from 8:30 last night until about 8:00 this morning, so he was a great sleeper last night!

More fun with Evan!

Last Saturday my parents and brother came over to celebrate father's day. Eric got to try out his new grill that is his Birthday/Father's day gift from me. Bob was up north on a boat trip, so Eric will be taking him out on the boat on Sunday. It is so hard to believe that Evan is 8 months old! He's not crawling yet, but he does roll around to get around. Here are some recent pictures of Evan.

He is starting to be able to support his weight a little bit with help from Mom and Dad
Evan loves his fish bowl that his Grandma Gay bought for him. He puts all of his fish and some balls in it and shakes it to make lots of noise and tips it over to try and dump everything out.
He loves to pull out the balls and chew on them.

Happy Father's Day Dad!!

When do I get to drive the boat Daddy?!

This weekend Evan started saying dadadadadadadadadadadada. Not in reference to anything in general just babble, but he is a lot closer to saying dada to Eric than mama, because there are no MMMMM's coming out. Just eeeeee's(he'll probably say Eddie...before Mommy) and now dddddaaaaa. I'm told that it'll come soon enough and then I'll want him to stop talking!

Enough with the pictures...Mommy the flash is hurting my eyes:-)
LOVE YOU BABY!!!
