We survived!

Last night we survived our first night on the water with both kids! It was Italian night at the Island, so we didn't have to plan a meal and had a delicious dinner. The kids got up about 6:30 and by 8:00 we were all napping:-) Then we headed to Bayside grill and had some lunch. Alex didn't cooperate very well and wanted to be held the whole time. Had I known I would've ordered something I could eat with one hand(I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich). The weather was just beautiful! I wish Alex would nap a little when we are underway so I could be up top for a little while. Both kids slept thought the night!

Playing in the cabin. Evan keeps busy playing with toys and reading books while I feed Alex.
Someone tell Evan he is a little too big to exercise on the Baby Einstein Mat?
Evan sees how much fun Alex has on the mat and doesn't want to miss out.

Alex is 11 weeks

Today Alex wore the outfit that he was wearing when he left the hospital. He fits into it much better(Eric said the top is too small as it barely fit over his head this morning) and also can hold his head and sit much better. He loves to stretch out and kick his feet. Alex is becoming a big eater at day care. Today he went through all 5 bottles and they were almost all empty except one had about 1 oz left in it!
Picture taken just prior to leaving the hospital

Sunday was a beautiful day and we took the boys out for a boat ride. I took these pictures of Alex in the cabin.

Evan stands next to Daddy while he's driving. Grandma Gay got him some bubbles, so he was occupied trying to blow bubbles.

He chases bubbles inside too!

What has been going on at our house?

We've been keeping pretty busy now that I'm back at work. My day starts at 4:30 am preparing some food for Alex. It will be nice when I'm not breastfeeding anymore! Eric gets up about 5:30, so he can get showered before the boys wake up. I've got to try to get to bed by 10:00 this week, because I've been up until 10:30 or 11:00. Alex is adjusting just fine to life at day care. They are keeping him well fed to keep him happy. Eric was supposed to travel to Denver this week, but thankfully his trip was cancelled!

What happens when you let an 18 month old eat tortellini with red sauce? He makes a big mess! Evan loves pasta and loves to touch everything while he's eating it:-) It takes a few rinses of the washcloth to get him cleaned up enough to leave his chair. Doesn't this make you want to go to Buca or Olive Garden?

Evan still loves to look at and read books. Hopefully this will become a life long joy for him! At least he's looking at the book right side up!

This bear has velcro on the arms and legs so Evan asks us to attach the bear to him. He usually pulls him off and then wants us to put him back on again. I tried to get a picture of this other night, but he'd pull him off before I could snap the picture.
Bath time for Alex! He doesn't mind getting a bath at all. Hopefully he'll love the water as much as Evan.
When we get out the bathtub for Alex .....Evan will push his chair over by the sink so he can be close and see what is going on.
ahhhh. Clean Baby! He doesn't get nearly as dirty as Evan who needs a bath almost every night.
Dad and Alex ...a self portrait!
I took this shot of Alex last weekend on the boat. It was a little chilly. This swaddle my aunt Barb made came in very handy. Alex is warm and happy:-)

Alex's first day at day care

This morning we took Alex to day care for the first time. This is Alex and Louise. Louise also cared for Evan back when he started in the infant room. I called to check on him and he's doing pretty good. I explained to Evan that Alex was going to be going with him to day care, but I'm not sure yet that he realizes that he's in the next room. We know Alex will adjust to all his new caregivers and enjoy his new friends. I start back at work tomorrow, so I need to get some organizing done in the boys closets. I've been up since 4:00, so I should probably take a nap in my peace and quiet house:-)
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's who read our blog. We started out yesterday doing The Race For The Cure with the boys. They were really good during the race.

Saturday we went out on the boat for the first time as a family. Alex slept on the way out to the island. We captured this first picture of just the two boys.
Evan enjoyed standing next to Daddy. His life jacket is much more comfortable on him this summer.

Happy 3rd Anniversary!

Today is our 3rd wedding anniversary! Happy Anniversary Eric:-) This past weekend Bob and Gay came to stay with the boys so we could get away for a night. Thank you to them for taking on the craziness we deal with on a daily basis. We had a nice time staying downtown. We are both sick today, so I'm glad we celebrated early. Evan ended up in the ER again on Sunday evening with a temp of 104.7. We were watching it all day on Sunday and it spiked to 104.7 and we were afraid it was going to go up higher. By the time we got seen in the ER it was down to 101 degrees. After spending 3 hours there they sent us home saying that kids get this virus in the spring with a high fever, sore throat and drooling. The ER was a crazy place with many people wearing masks it was like something out of a movie. I didn't want to touch anything and thought to myself that this was not a good place to bring Alex. Evan stayed home from day care on Monday and Tuesday. Alex got his two month shots on Monday and also had a fever from those, so I've had some fun here this week.

As you can see in the picture Alex is really starting to smile and engage with me which is great. Evan has a milk goatee:-)
Tonight I got out the Bumbo seat for Alex and of course Evan had to sit in it, kneel in it and stand in it. This seat will keep him busy for awhile now when I'm in Alex's room. When Alex is in the seat he wants to be in it too of course!

Evan Jan 2008 and Alex May 2009 . These photos show that Evan did have a really big head!! Alex is doing pretty well at sitting up. Alex is a couple weeks younger than Evan was in his photo. They are both wearing the same outfit, so I had to take this picture today of Alex in the Bumbo seat. Eric says this outfit is already too short for Alex and it is a 6 month outfit.

He wouldn't give me much of a smile:-(

Alex at 7 weeks

It is hard to believe that Alex is already 7 weeks old! I shot these pictures of him today. Last night he slept in his crib for the first time. Alex usually sleeps from 10:30 at night until around 4:00 am. He is starting to make cooing noises and showing his personality with his facial expressions and moods.

Easter part II

Last Saturday we went up to celebrate Easter with my Dad's side of the family. Again we got a picture of all the kids. Next time I think we need to take the picture when we arrive, because we took the picture right before leaving and they were all pretty tired. Both Evan and Alex slept all the way home.
