A Few Days Up North at the Cabin

Tuesday night after work we headed up to my parents cabin for a few days.  Wednesday morning we got up and it was raining.  Once the rain stopped we headed over to the ranger tower that is a couple miles away.  We were able to make use of the 3rd row of Eric's vehicle, so my parents could ride with us.

Evan was leading the pack up to the tower.  Dad, Eric and Alex are behind us.  Mom stayed in the car, because her knee is too bad to do the stairs.

Can you see Evan and Eric in the middle of the picture?

Oh zoom helps to see them!

Two years ago I carried Alex to the top of the tower.  This year he climbed up himself!

We made it to the top!

Nice view from the top!  Too bad the sun wasn't out!

Nice view of Big Sandy Lake!  This area in McGregor is recovering from some recent flooding that caused a lot of damage to lake homes.

Evan on his way down from the tower.

He has started to collect feathers.

Dad, Eric and Alex on their way back down to the road.

View from the ranger station across the road.

This is some Old School playground equipment.  What were they thinking?

The speed boat is still in the shed, so Papa took them out in the fishing boat.  They headed up the river to see some damage from the flood.

Of course we need to do silly faces!

Time to do some fishing

The water on the river was clear as a mirror!

Two years ago we got this same door picture with Evan and Rex.

Nice Chef's Hat Evan!...ok time to put on  your pants!

Big Bear holding onto George!

Evan wanted to be in the picture too!

Time to play in the sand!  They got out my brothers old Tonka trucks.  The boys could sit out here for hours.  The mosquitoes really like Evan.  His ankles got eaten up with bites.

Silly faces!

Don't take my picture Mommy!

Rex!  He loved playing ball with the boys and was really exhausted every night.

Deer must not like these...they ate all the rest of Mom's plants!

Vroom Vroom!

Picture time!  The boys were in a good mood and posed for these pictures showing their brotherly LOVE for each other.

The boys and my Dad.

Friday we headed to an iron ore open pit mine and saw some really big dump trucks.  This is a retired truck they let you climb up in.  The ones they use currently are a lot bigger.

We got to watch them load a dump truck and haul it away.

Really big scoop!

Climb up the holes boys!

Really big tire!

Some old retired equipment at the Annex Hill Mine.

The boys thought it was pretty cool to pretend to drive this big dump truck!

Tired after a long tour at the mine!

The tour guide explained that this OLD SCHOOL dump truck had no hydraulic lift so you drove with the dumper in the front and hit the breaks quick to dump the bucket.

Uncle Greg came up last night, so the boys got a ride on the 4 Wheeler!

Alex loved his ride on the 4 Wheeler!

Evan wearing my sunglasses!
